The Barbeaux Amplifcation Lil' Sis Desktop Head is a tastefully tweaked 5F2-A Tweed Princeton. It sounds fantastic and offers a wide range of tonal options from clean to cranked gains. The front control knobs are simple volume on the left and tone on the right.
There are also two modifications that allow for deviations from the original 5F2-A to maximize versatility and compatibility with different pickups - 3-way switchable "fat" switch (gradually boosts mids/gain) on the front panel and On/Off global negative feedback switch on the rear next to the speaker output jack.
This is a small amp "head" occupying a roughly 7.5" x 7.5" footprint (+ ~2" for handle) is built in a Hammond Diecast Aluminum chassis - CNC cut in-house for perfect fit and finish. Component lists as follows:
- AES Power & Output Transformer (8 Ω Output)

This little desktop amp is one bad Larry! The fat switch and negative feedback switch really lend a great deal of versatility to a renowned vintage circuit. I've run it through a custom built 10" princeton blackpanel pine cabinet, and a couple custom 2x12 pine slant cabs. They both sound excellent. I've also run it with a 65 Princeton reverb reissue in stereo, and it holds up well at low to moderate volumes taking pedals. Drive, fuzz, delay, harmonic trem, etc. If you crank it it will start to flub out in a single ended amp way. Gives a great recorded lead tone. It takes pedals as long as it's not turned up to much. Otherwise everything starts to clip. It doesn't like loop pedals with a drum machine. It's too much input and farts out. Overall this is a great amp regardless of price, but especially because of price. It being top notch hand wired on some boards makes it easily repairable into the future and a lifelong amp. This is one bad Larry!
This amp sounds incredible and can offer a huge range of sounds. I haven’t heard a bad setting on it. It’s extremely well built, looks great sitting on a desk. Perfect for a home studio. Huddy offers incredible value here and also great after-purchase support.
This is a really great sounding amp and much more versatile than a stock 5F1 or 5F2 build. Build quality seems very high; it's very robust. It has exceeded my expectations. Lastly, it's a great value.
I can't stand tube rattle but was looking for a low-watt practicing/recording amp - the Lil' Sis fits the bill perfectly! Sounds great, well-built, more flexible than your standard 5f2 and the head format keeps things rattle-free. Great buy!
This little amp is nothing short of amazing!! How he does it at this price point is a mystery. It is loaded with high-quality components, and the craftsmanship and wiring is impeccable. Like the other reviews have stated, it truly is a work of art. The amp is amazingly clear, and with the fat switch and negative feedback switch the tone options are limitless. If you’re thinking about getting one, just get one!! I’m currently running mine through a divided by 13 cabinet with two Alnico blues, and it sounds absolutely amazing.
